Kansas Department of Agriculture initial training of Registered Pest Control Technicians
CTN Educational Services’ online training classes are designed to provide your employees with up to 20 hours of training. The Kansas Department of Agriculture, Pesticide Program, has established the following guidelines in Kansas.
Uncertified applicators may train to become registered technicians in:
- Category 3 Subcategories 3A – Ornamental and 3B – Turf
- Category 7 Subcategories 7A – Wood Destroying and 7E – Structural
All applicants must complete a minimum of 10 hours of classroom training and 30 hours of supervised application of pesticides per category. An applicant who intends to train in both category 3 and category 7 must complete 20 hours of classroom training and 60 hours of supervised on-the-job training. However, a particular video may count for training in both category 3 and 7. For example, the Pesticide Safety video would count for two hours of classroom training for category 3 and at the same time count for two hours of classroom training for category 7.
